Sermon: "Great Is Your Faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22–23)

*Introduction:*
Life is filled with trials, uncertainties, and moments of despair. The author of Lamentations, traditionally understood to be the prophet Jeremiah, wrote this book amidst profound suffering. The city of Jerusalem had been destroyed, and the people were exiled, yet in the heart of this grief, Jeremiah pauses to affirm a timeless truth: God's steadfast love and mercy never fail. Today, we’ll explore what this means for us in the midst of our challenges.

*1. The Context of the Verse*
Lamentations is a book of sorrow and lament over Jerusalem's destruction. It reflects pain, regret, and loss.
Yet in the middle of this lament comes a declaration of hope. Verses 22–23 remind us that even in devastation, God’s faithfulness shines through.

Application: Sometimes, our darkest moments give us the clearest view of God’s light. It’s when all else fails that we can lean fully on His promises.

*2. God’s Steadfast Love*
The Hebrew word for "steadfast love" is *hesed*, which conveys loyalty, commitment, and unfailing kindness.
This love isn’t dependent on our faithfulness; it is rooted in God’s character. He loves us not because of who we are but because of who He is.

"Mercies" refers to God's compassion and tender care. Each day, He offers us a fresh supply of grace.
No matter how we failed yesterday, today is a new chance to experience His love and walk in His ways.

Example: Just as the sunrise marks the beginning of a new day, so God’s mercy resets with each morning. It’s a reminder that we are not defined by our past mistakes but by His grace.

*4. Great Is His Faithfulness*
Faithfulness means reliability and trustworthiness. God does not waver or change.
Throughout Scripture, we see His faithfulness to His promises—from Abraham to Jesus and beyond.

Application: In moments of doubt, we can cling to the truth that God has always been faithful. If He was faithful then, He will be faithful now.
