Ibrahim traore,the president of Burkina faso,success story|Factuality TV Ibrahim Traoré is a Burkinabé military officer and the interim President of Burkina Faso since September 2022. He seized power in a military coup, ousting the previous president, Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, due to dissatisfaction with his handling of the country's security crisis. Born in 1988 in Bondokuy, Traoré is now one of the world's youngest leaders and has focused on national self-reliance and strengthening ties with Russia.
Early life and education: Born on March 14, 1988, Traoré was born in Bondokuy, Burkina Faso. He completed his secondary education in Bobo-Dioulasso and went on to study at the University of Ouagadougou, where he earned a degree in geology.
Military career:
He joined the Burkinabé army in 2009.
After officer training at the Georges Namoano Military Academy, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2012.
He served as a UN peacekeeper in Mali and participated in counterterrorism missions in northern Burkina Faso.
He was promoted to captain in 2020.
Seizure of power:
In September 2022, Traoré led a coup against the ruling junta led by Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, who had also come to power in a coup earlier that year.
The coup was fueled by widespread insecurity and public dissatisfaction with the government's response to jihadist insurgencies.
Presidency:
As interim president, he has promoted Pan-Africanism and a more independent foreign policy, with closer ties to Russia.
His administration has sought to nationalize key resources like gold, engage the youth in defense, and has brought in Russian-linked groups, such as the Bears Brigade, to protect the regime.
