Elisabetta Marino is an avid researcher and Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Rome. In her talk she discusses how women used their writings as a bridge to communicate with the world. She takes up specific instances to illustrate women writing travelogues, which became a medium for emancipation and provided them with a unique identity to express their views and extend their influence. Elisabetta Marino is an Avid Researcher, Opinion Maker and Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Rome. She is author of many appealing research papers and books like The West in Asia and Asia in the West: Essays on Transnational Interactions; Transnational, national, and personal voices: new perspectives on Asian American and Asian diasporic women writers; and When East Meets West: A Sweet and Sour Encounter in Ang Lee's The Wedding Banquet.
