Joe's Smelt - Tandem

Описание к видео Joe's Smelt - Tandem

Invented by Joe Sterling. This is a good smelt imitation that seems to work wherever you fish it - even in waters that don't have smelt.
The feather used in this video is what I used to buy as "Pintail" feathers. It has gotten hard to find these feathers and today many people substitute Mallard Flank. If you use Mallard Flank be sure and search for a feather that is balanced with equal-length fibers on each side of the quill. If one side has more fibers than the other the fly tends to spin twisting your leader.
I often tie this using a single long-shanked hook in casting sizes. It's a go-to fly.
