Описание к видео Sand Mandala Lecture | Blanton Museum of Art

On Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, the Blanton invited monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery to talk about the meaning of a sand mandala in a lecture titled "Symbolism of the Sand Mandala."

Sand mandalas are unique to Tibetan Buddhism and are created for the healing of living beings and the environment. Jan. 9 - 13 the visiting monks created a sand mandala in the Blanton's Rapoport Atrium as a special public program affiliated with the museum's "Into the Sacred City" exhibition of rare Tibetan works from the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive collection.

In this 54-minute-long video with audio from the lecture, you'll learn how, by creating a sand mandala, we bring creative energy into our lives and attune ourselves to natural perfection.
