Hello everyone. Welcome to a new video on this channel. As promised in the last video, today we are once again devoting ourselves to the absolute low-end sector. Today we are talking about a mini PC, the JX1 to be precise, consisting of an Intel Celeron N5105 and its integrated Intel UHD Graphics, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and in our case 256GB SSD storage. However, the device is also available with 128GB and 512GB storage.
The RAM is single-channel, by the way, and it is not possible to upgrade it because it is soldered. So prepare yourselves for some tough stuff.
As already announced, the performance was not particularly impressive. According to the single-channel RAM, it was even quite sobering in my opinion. I tested 22 games, 18 of which are currently among the most played games. The performance was not particularly convincing in these games. I mean, it's certainly OK to take a look at World of Warcraft and roam around a bit, or to play a few rounds of Word of Tanks. The little PC also did pretty well in The Sims 4. But even with games that are not demanding from today's perspective, such as Dead by Daylight, the Celeron N5105 was pretty overtaxed.
So I can't recommend the Mini PC for current games.
That's why I added 2 old school games. Street Racing Syndicate from 2004 and Flatout 2 from 2006, and lo and behold, the Celeron N5105 is suddenly completely convincing. And that even despite the single-channel RAM. So it's definitely recommendable for classics. Even older Need for Speed games like Underground 1 and 2, Half-Life 2, Battlefield 2, or Call of Duty 2 should not be a problem. That's why I recommend it for retro gaming up to the 2010 gaming year.
Finally, I tested two games in Xbox Cloud Gaming. Forza Horizon 5 and Battlefield 2042 both ran flawlessly. Accordingly, I can also recommend the Mini PC for streaming games.
And what else can I recommend it for? For normal Windows work. The Celeron N5105 hardly consumes any power and is still fast enough to watch 4k videos or just surf the web or write a few emails. The JX1 already comes with Windows 11 Home and I found it ran very well with this version of Windows. The small computer would also work very well as a home server because of the very low power consumption already mentioned.
By the way, I found another video on YouTube in which the Celeron N5105 with dual-channel ram was tested. This sometimes resulted in almost double the FPS figures. But even with 30FPS in GTA V, I can't recommend the Celeron N5105 for playing modern games in 2023. There are simply better and cheaper alternatives on the second-hand market.
That's it for this voiceover. I hope you will enjoy the video. If you do, please leave a like and a subscription. The test results are interesting in any case. Hope to see you all in the next video. See you then.
