Rajasthan Has A Population Of Roughly 80 Million And It Ranks 7th In Terms Of Population Among Indian States. Jaipur Is The Capital City Of The State, And Other Major Cities Include Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, Bhiwadi And Udaipur.


The Two Dominant Geographical Features Of Rajasthan Is The Thar Desert And The Aravalli Mountain Range.


The Thar Desert, A Hot Desert, Situated In Northwestern India And Southeastern Pakistan, Covering An Total Surface Area Of About 200,000 Square Kilometres. Thar Desert Acts As A Natural Boundary Between India And Pakistan. The Desert Is Spread Across Four States In India, Namely Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, And Gujarat. The Desert Also Covers The Provinces Of Punjab And Sindh Of Pakistan. About 90% Of The Thar Desert Lies In India, And About 10% Is In Pakistan. Thar Desert Covers Nearly 60% Of The Area Of Rajasthan. The Luni Is The Largest River That Flows Through The Thar Desert. Major Cities Located In The Desert Are Jaisalmer, Bikaner And Jodhpur.

The Thar Desert Has A Total Population Of Roughly 16.6 Million Inhabitants, Which Makes It The Most Densely Populated Hot Desert In The World, With A Population Density Of 83 Persons Per Square Kilometre. For Comparison, The Sahara Desert Covers Over 9.2 Million Square Kilometres, And Has A Population Of Only 2.5 Million Inhabitants,With An Average Population Density Of 0.4 Person Per Square Kilometre Or 1 Person Per Square Mile.


The Aravalli Range Is A Mountain Range That Runs Through The Indian States Of Gujrat, Rajasthan, Haryana And Delhi. It Is The Oldest Mountain Range In India And One Of Oldest In The World. The Age Of The Aravalli Range Is Estimated To Be Around 1.5 To 2 Billion Years. The Mountain Range Has A Total Length Of Approximately 692 Kilometers, With An Average Height Of 600 To 900 Meters. 80 % Of The Mountain Range Lies In Rajasthan, With A Length Of Roughly 550 km. Aravalli Range Actually Divides The State Of Rajasthan Into Two Unequal Parts, 60% Of State Area Lies In The Northwest Of The Mountain Range, And 40% In The Southeast. The Mountain Plays An Important Role In The Geography Of Rajasthan, As It Acts As A Barrier Between The Thar Desert And Eastern Rajasthan, Thus Preventing The Desert From Spreading To The Eastern Parts Of Rajasthan. The Highest Peak Of The Aravalli Range Is Guru Shikhar, With An Height Of Roughly 1,722 Metres, It Is Situated At A Distance Of 15 Kilometres From Mount Abu, A Popular Hill Station.
