2025 Mainline Steam Season Opener

Hello & Welcome to the 1st mainline steam video of 2025 from Harnetty Railways.

In this brief video we see Ian Riley's pride & joy Black 5 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier heading for home from Carnforth 10A to The East Lancashire Railway via the WCML & Chat Moss following successful run on The Polar Express trains from Edinburgh.

Here we see him pass through Wigan North Western running 10 minutes early after Network Rail allowed him to run on the fast lines from Preston.

Note the massive headlight on the smokebox that was used for The Polar Express runs.

This is the 1st of 2 videos dedicated in memory of Britt Alcroft a much loved producer who brought our childhood to the TV screens Thomas The Tank Engine & his friends from the 1980's. Sadly passed away a few days before this film.

With 1 of the character Henry which is based on 1 of these black 5's we felt it was appropiate to dedicate this video in Britt Alcroft's memory.

Our thoughts, Love & Condolences are with Britt Alcroft's family & friends at this very difficult time.

R.I.P Britt Alcroft as you board the heavens express.
