Before the Roderick on the Line live podcast (with John Roderick and Merlin Mann, see http://www.merlinmann.com/roderick/) on JoCo Cruise Crazy, Jonathan Coulton notes that we're missing a key element, which is John Roderick. Paul is not surprised, and can neither confirm nor deny knowing the secret location of John Roderick. Jonathan tells us about a listening to John Roderick's performance in the bathroom/background, and then not being on stage when he was supposed to be. Finally, Jonathan introduces him by saying, 'Ladies and gentlemen, this is an act that deserves no introduction' and walking off the stage.

Finally the Roderick on the Line show begins. They talk about the 'keep moving and get out of the way' philosophy, and how it applies in the Windjammer buffet on the cruise. They talk about starch consolidation, curry stroganoff, how to run a cruise, Hodgman's cruise, the John Roderick SuperTrain, tanzanite, changing people's minds, rhomboid pyramids of frozen yoghurt at Sprinkles on the top deck, the burglary of his impenetrable castle the day before the cruise, contemplating death with every step one takes, possums fucking in the walls, meth-addicted locksmiths, getting a passport in a day (which Phil next to me had to do before the cruise), John Roderick's uncle's survival of an airplane fire, panic attacks on planes, one-way missions to Mars (though they were not aware that two sea monkeys were Mars100 candidates), Soylent, skin-flake sandwiches, sluice box mucking (which John Roderick has experience with:    • What was your worst day job? -- JoCo Cruis...  ) and then they open up the floor to questions. The questions are:

Can I do the fish stick with you later?
Can you talk some more about what you said on the podcast about putting people into boxes?
Have you thought of pitching your burglary story to Liam Neeson?
Can you talk about female hat etiquette?
If you could have an additional voice in your head to give you advice that you could turn off at will, who would it be?
What should happen to those who drive too slowly in the left-hand lane?
