For autistic adults, especially those who were a late diagnosed autism adult or experience high masking autism, daily life can feel like a constant performance. Many autistic people use masking strategies to hide how hard these “normal” activities really are, especially in social situations. The mental and emotional exhaustion of this is rarely understood by neurotypical people.

I speak from experience to show what is autism really like beneath the surface.
