Tuesdays with CKLS: Self Censorship

Описание к видео Tuesdays with CKLS: Self Censorship

Continuing the conversation on censorship and book challenges, we are turning the discussion inwards. How are we censoring our collection?

Quiet censorship, or soft censorship or self-censorship, terms used interchangeably, is when materials are purposefully removed, limited, or never purchased at all to avoid conflict despite it being a title that meets collection management criteria and policy.

With more parental rights groups and legislation looking for collection oversight, even the best intellectual freedom librarian advocates are falling victim to choosing the path of least resistance.

This discussion will talk about common censorship pitfalls we all face and how to address them.
