Описание к видео Your Personal Guide to Applying for a UK English Study Visa

Hello, this is Tim Hunt, Managing Director of World Student Advisors. Welcome to our Podcast, “Your Personal Guide to Applying for a UK English Study Visa.”
If you’re planning to study English in the United Kingdom, it’s important to apply for the right visa. There are two main options.
The first is the Standard Visitor visa, for courses lasting up to six months. It costs £115. You’ll need your passport, your college acceptance letter, proof of accommodation, and evidence that you can cover your tuition, living costs, and your return journey. Applications normally take around three weeks from the date of your appointment, but in many countries, you can pay for priority services — about £250 extra for a five-day decision, or around £1,000 for a super-priority, next-day decision.
The second is the Short-term Study visa, designed for English language courses that are longer than six months, up to a maximum of eleven months. It costs £200. For this visa you’ll need an unconditional offer from an accredited college, proof of accommodation, and bank statements showing you have enough funds to cover your tuition and living costs for the whole stay. Processing also takes about three weeks, and in many countries, you can pay extra for the same priority and super-priority services to speed things up.
Both visas are applied for online through the official UK Government website at www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa. Once you have completed the form and paid the fee, you’ll be asked to book an appointment at a Visa Application Centre.
Here’s how it works. Visa Application Centres are not run by the British Council. They are managed by two commercial partners: TLS-contact and VFS Global. Which one you use depends on your nationality and where you live. For example, TLS-contact runs centres in capitals such as Luanda, Lagos, Accra and Yowunday. VFS Global operates in other locations including Nairobi, Dar-es-Salaam, Kampala, Lilong way, Abuja, Harare and Juba in South Sudan. When you apply online, the system automatically directs you to the right provider and centre for your appointment. At your appointment you’ll provide biometrics — your fingerprints and photograph — and submit your supporting documents.
A couple of important points to keep in mind. These visas are for study only, so working in the UK is not permitted. And do make sure you leave before your visa expires — that way, you’ll have no difficulty applying again in the future.
Although not compulsory, I always recommend arranging travel and health insurance, as it gives peace of mind should anything unexpected happen.
At World Student Advisors, we’ll guide you every step of the way — from choosing the right visa, to preparing your financial evidence, to submitting a strong application.
