The State Capture Commission says former SABC Chief Operating Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng and the former group CEO, Lulama Mokhobo, should be investigated for an irregular deal. The fifth and final report of the Inquiry into Corruption and Fraud in the public sector found that the two possibly contravene sections of the Public Finance Management Act when concluding an agreement between the SABC and the now-defunct Gupta-owned, The New Age newspaper, to do breakfast briefings. The public broadcaster entered into a deal with TNA in 2011 which required government departments or ministers to pay to appear on broadcasts that were aired on the SABC. The commission said the arrangement cost the SABC millions of rands and that should be recovered from the assets belonging to TNA or those held by members of the Gupta family. He's implicated.
