A double dose of lake effect snow pummeled Western New York from Nov. 17-20, 2014.

The initial wall of snow Nov. 17-19 dumped more than 5 feet on some parts of the Buffalo area — though snow totals varied wildly across the region, with communities outside the lake effect band receiving a mere dusting. After a 12-hour respite, another round of lake effect snow Nov. 19-20 brought totals closer to 7 feet in some areas. The storm was blamed for 14 deaths.

The event didn’t cause much disruption to the Rochester area, though parts of Genesee County had feet of snow to clean up.
