PORSCHE 997 AFTERMARKET RADIO DIY

Описание к видео PORSCHE 997 AFTERMARKET RADIO DIY

I recently installed an aftermarket audio unit in the Turbo. I wanted to update the usability of the stereo, navigation and infotainment system to something similarly found in a modern-day car.

I chose to go with a SONY wireless apple CarPlay head unit. It is a double din screen within a single din chassis. Its sleek and simple design blends nicely in the interior space and the wireless connectivity really helps ease of use, convenience while also keeping the interior space neat and tidy. The capacitive touch is superb and the unit as a whole is real joy to have and use. The factory PCM in the 997.1 cars are pretty dated, and though they appear "correct" in the cabin, it just lacks the modern features that make life easier.

This video is somewhat of a DIY of how to install an aftermarket head unit into a 997 while still retaining the factory amplifier and wiring. It outlines the construction, function and system description of a Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) ring. It also identifies the inputs on the factory harness that are needed to power the components and shows exact pinouts of the vehicle wiring that I chose to use to make everything work.

The components used:
-SONY XAV-AX600
-METRA 997 double din surround
-MOST Fiber Optic Converter box
-MICRO HDMI to Lightning adapter cable
