Cars swept away in Malaga, Spain today, Red Warning Issued for Heavy Rain and Flooding
Malaga on red alert due to torrential rains: overflows and flooding due to the DANA. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the red warning of extreme risk for torrential rains in the Sol and Guadalhorce regions in the province of Malaga, where the rainfall has been occurring with intensity since early last night.
The red alert will remain active from 12:00 to 16:00 hours, when rainfall of 120 mm could accumulate in 12 hours, while from the afternoon, Aemet expects the rains to subside. Emergency services have responded to more than 70 incidents during the early hours of Tuesday morning, specifically from late Monday to early Tuesday morning, due to the storm and heavy rainfall recorded in the province of Malaga.
For their part, the Provincial Fire Brigade (CPB) and the road maintenance workers of the Malaga Provincial Council have registered 35 interventions in all the regions of the province due to the heavy rains that have been falling since last night. This situation has caused classes to be suspended at the CEIP Nescania in Valle de Abdalajís due to the flooding of the centre. The same has happened at the CEIP Federico García Lorca in the town of Barranco de Zafra, in the locality of Almogía.
