Building a Donkey Dugout & Day Shelter Run-In for our Miniature Donkeys Dry Paddock – JD 1025r helps

Описание к видео Building a Donkey Dugout & Day Shelter Run-In for our Miniature Donkeys Dry Paddock – JD 1025r helps

As you saw in one of our previous videos, we are expanding the Horse Dry Paddock for our two Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys. We are using Stone Dust (aka Stone Fines; Crusher Sand; Manufactured Sand) as the base, which creates a very dry, hard packed paddock that is excellent for hoof health and hoof care. Your Farrier will love you for it.

While doing so we decided to build them a "Donkey Dugout & Day Shelter" for their new paddock. This is nothing more than a covered 8' x 8' "Run-In" structure having a shed roof and being open on 3 sides. It has a feeding station wall where we will hang a water bucket and slow feeding hay net. In addition to their stable, this will give the donkeys a "Refreshment Stand" where they can hang out during the day while providing shelter from the sun, rain or snow. The Run-In will have rubber stable mats to comfort their hooves while creating a clean eating space with no concern of ingesting sand (when they nibble up the hay that falls on the ground) We do this knowing that you should not ground feed on a sand based dry paddock due to the concern for sand colic in horses and donkeys.

So come along and watch the fun of building this little Donkey Dugout for our miniature friends. Special thanks to our little John Deere 1025r Compact Tractor and Backhoe - When done we will have moved 20 tons (15 cubic yards) of Stone Dust with the front loader - 1/3 of a yard at a time . We couldn't have done this with him.
