Cabaça Vermelha Chilli Test

Cabaça Vermelha is another amazing Brazilian chilli, grown the peach variety for a few years and ended up with the red variety from a batch of sent seeds so thought would get them going, they look great, finally time to try one and see what they are like

A Chinense variety, the plants grow to around a meter, this one is around 50cm and produces amazing little elongated pear shaped pods, which start of green and ripen into a bright red colour. The pods are 3 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide.

Instant chinense flavour with a tangy saltiness as well, very nice, flavour stays for a fair while too

Heat hits fairly straight away in the back of the throat and top back palate, then it started to build as the burn started to move slowly forward, builds to around habanero heat so has some oomph, front of the mouth was still burning fter the break so has a decent length burn as well

All in all this chilli variety is a real beauty that will stand out in your garden. The plant looks like a small leafy bush chock full of red coloured pears. This species is easy to grow and you will get lots of pods, perfect for the space challenged as not really big but a great producer
