Commonly affected areas include

Melasma is often called the “mask of pregnancy because it frequently affects pregnant women.
The skin is made up of three layers
Epidermis
Dermis
Subcuits

Epidermis contains cells called melanocytes that store and produce a dark pigment known as melanin.
In Response to light, heat, or ultraviolet radiation or by hormonal stimulation, the melanocytes produce more melanin.
Melasma occurs due to excessive accumulation of melanin.

Tips to prevent
Avoid sun exposure
Use sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater
