This year’s Fourth of July was different for our family. For as long as we can remember, we’ve gathered at Mama Jane and Papa’s farm in South Carolina to celebrate Independence Day—and Papa’s birthday. It’s been a special tradition for generations. This year, we came together for the first time without Papa, and it was both bittersweet and beautiful.

We spent the day remembering all the years he was here, sharing stories, laughing, and holding on to the memories that mean so much. The kids loved getting to visit Mama Jane, and she loved having everyone back at the farm. It felt like a step toward healing and honoring the love and legacy Papa left behind.

We’re so thankful for family, for traditions that hold us together, and for the chance to celebrate the Fourth of July just like old times—even when it feels different.
