180 mile round trip to the stunning Elan Valley, known as the Welsh Lake District, in the old county of Radnorshire (now Powys). I'd heard much about the dams, reservoirs, and Red Kite birds of prey, but was pleasantly surprised at the diverse scenery. We went on a, wet and windy day in Autumn, so it wasn't a day to relax in the sunshine, especially with slippery mud and leaf filled roads, but the colours were awesome.
We did see one Red Kite, which was big and close by, but the camera was suffering from operator error at the time so didn't get it on film, sorry.
