Comic readers are being inundated with the sames mantra for years. "Comics
have always been been political." Breaking the "comics have always been political" fantasty is pretty easy This is an outright lie. Most people simply do not understanding the difference betwen political behavior and personal philosophy. Once you identify what constitutes political behavior “activities that relate to influencing the actions and policies of a government or getting and keeping power in a government”, you can identify what constitutes political behavior. Writing a character with specific beliefs or moral codes doesn't mean comics have always been political. Writing behaviors that don't fit the character to make a political statemnt is politics in comics. And comics readers are receiving far more of that than not lately. Writers placing their own political beliefs over the characters defined ethos ends up breaking the characters and comics. Breaking the "comics have always been political" fantasty isn't hard. But I doubt that stops people from throwing the "comics have always been political" fantasy as an excuse for breaking characters and comics.
