In 2015, we made a film involving one of Central Kalimantan’s most respected cultural figure heads and musicians, Pak Syaer Sua. Thanks to Pak Syaer and his family we have had the fortunate of becoming more and more familiar with the ins and outs of Dayak culture.
Sadly, pak Syaer passed away this September. This loss came to us as a shock and we grieve together with his family.
This is a short clip of him performing traditional "Karungut" music at his extraordinary Dayak Longhouse in Tumbang Manggu, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, which we have had the privilege of visiting frequently over the years.
R.i.P pak Syaer. Turut Berduka.
