MAJOR thanks to Ethan Roland, the perma-culture design/soil biology trainer in this video and a huge inspiration for all of us within the Northeast Permaculture (NEPA) community. He is such a nice guy man, and still he extends his warmth into the Universe very much by travelling the world over teaching permaculture farming and earth-contouring and aquaculture, and empowering people to do everything from swales to fish ponds to keyhole gardens, apple trees in forest-gardens to straw bale houses. Ethan knows everything super-sustainable, just about, and he has the heart of a saint and a deeply calming presence. Ethan is totally alright!

This film begins with me and some students building a raised garden bed ubder the tutelage of an invisible but laughing Rafter Sass. The better part of the film features Ethan Roland's excellent introduction to the soil's key components, bacteria and fungi. Then there's another scene from the fields as we put ideas into actions at a summer 2006's Permaculture Design 1 Workshop held at Camp Epworth in High Falls, New York.
