Second World War anti landing scaffolding at Gibraltar Point

Описание к видео Second World War anti landing scaffolding at Gibraltar Point

A line of Second World War anti-landing scaffolding at Gibraltar Point. Formed part of the defences of the Gibraltar Point Coastal Defence Battery. More formally known as Admiralty Scaffolding, the obstacle was made from sections of tubular steel, bolted together to create a linear barrier to any landing craft or vehicles wanting to move further inland. Most of the scaffolding was removed at the end of the war, although some stretches survived, usually where they had become buried by shifting sand dunes. Although in rusted and deteriorating condition, small portions of the scaffolding survives at Gibraltar Point, and are occasionally visible following spring tides and the movement of the dunes here.
