Silver Pride Lion Troupe stands out among the sea of programmes aimed at seniors. With one in four Singaporeans set to be 65 or older by 2030, many initiatives promote active ageing – but few resonate as successfully as this one.

Designed by NextOfKin Creatives, the project addresses this gap by weaving Singapore’s cultural heritage into senior engagement. Adapting the art of lion dance, this President*s Design Award 2025 Design of the Year promotes fitness, social connection. It offers an inclusive experience that embraces people of different ages and abilities.

With physiotherapists and lion dance master practitioners guiding a respectful adaptation, equipment and choreography were tailored to seniors’ abilities without compromising the tradition’s integrity. Learn more about how heritage can be used as a form of innovation at pda.designsingapore.org.
