HM Amit Shah Makes a Statement in Lok Sabha On Nagaland Tragedy

The violence in Nagaland, which claimed the lives of 14 civilians and a soldier, sparked a debate in Parliament today, with the opposition demanding an investigation and compensation for the victims' families. PM Modi held a meeting with key ministers to discuss the matter. The national government mourned the loss of the 14 people, said Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha. Mr Shah just gave a brief statement in which he recapped the events of the weekend, following which the opposition MPs' yells were ignored. Manish Tewari of the Congress expressed his displeasure earlier today in the Lok Sabha and sought for an investigation by a sitting High Court judge.
