Edward Salim Michael (1921–2006), 'Elegy to an exiled soul', for Ondes Martenot and Piano, op. 9.

Born in Manchester, Edward Michael spent various parts of his life in Iraq, Syria, England and France and his music was influenced both by this internationalism, and by his profound Buddhist faith. This haunting melody was one of several he composed for the Ondes Martenot.

You can hear this piece, along with other original compositions for Ondes Martenot and Theremin, at St John's College Cambridge later this spring.
