Aambadya uddamethi is a traditional Goan dish made with hog plums, also known as ambade, cooked in a coconut-based gravy flavoured with roasted fenugreek seeds, urad dal which are the main ingredients of the recipe . The dish has a tangy, sweet, and spicy taste that goes well with steamed rice. Hog plums are seasonal fruits that are available in Goa and other parts of India during the monsoon months. They are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants and have many health benefits.

Ingredients:
- 8 hog plums/ambade, peeled
- 2 tablespoons grated jaggery
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dal
- asafoetida you can also take powdered
- 2-3 strands of curry leaves
- For the gravy:
- 1 cup freshly grated coconut
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoon chilli powder
- 1 marble-sized ball of tamarind (optional if u like sour taste)
