Smashing together two genres isn't common, but it's been part of computer gaming since the earliest days. But Star Control takes cues from the iconic Archon to combine strategic Wargaming and Spacewar style action to offer a fresh challenge for those craving the mix. Even if it so happens to be superceded by it's rather legendary sequel.

This episode of Beyond The Scanlines dives into the gameplay before checking out how four of its conversions fared - the Commodore Amiga and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis to cover the 16-bit side of the fence, with the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum to cover off the 8-bits.
