Step inside the legendary Eclectic Props/Encore Props in Queens, New York City! This isn't just a prop house; it's the largest prop rental company on the East Coast, housed in an unbelievably vast 95,000 sq. foot showroom—a working archive that feels more like a touchable museum of human history.

This incredible experience was part of a special New York Adventure Club tour, where we were guided by the owner herself, the impressive Suri. Suri founded this business nearly four decades ago (in 1979) after seeing a gap in the industry—famously starting with just a small initial investment (as little as $75!) and a ton of determination. Her passion, dedication, and meticulous organization are now the heart of this collection. Suri has created a rabbit hole of discovery, where every room is a fully realized vignette. The props—a mix of original artifacts and expertly recreated pieces—are all rescued, curated, and ready to tell a story for film, TV, theater, and events.

My emotional journey was defined by a powerful wave of nostalgia mixed with the thrill of discovery. This collection showcases items from centuries and countries around the world. Unlike a typical museum, here you can feel the texture of history in your hands. The silence of the warehouse, broken only by the distinct scent of history (like the books in the classroom set), only added to the awe.
