Peter Michael Marino is a New York City native who has worked extensively as a producer, director, developer, writer, teacher, and performer whose work has been seen on five continents. Pete is a member of The Dramatists Guild, AEA, SAG-AFTRA, The Indie Theater Fund, and a graduate of the Commercial Theater Institute. His production company PM2 Entertainment has presented festivals and original comedy works everywhere from NYC to Australia, Canada, and the UK.
Pete is regarded as one of the first American artists to pioneer online, live, interactive performances during the pandemic. He streamed live performances of his solo shows Desperately Seeking the Exit and Show Up, Kids! for nearly a year online, and streamed the internationally acclaimed Planet of the Grapes Live. In summer 2021, Pete produced the Spanish and English run of his acclaimed family-friendly “Show Up, Kids” at The Kraine Theater, NYC. The Japanese-language production opens in NYC Winter 2022.
He is a subject of an early pandemic piece by Peter Marks in the Washington Post, and is also the author of a controversial piece for Medium on what theater is. It’s satire, people.
Pete co-created the role of host/clown “Keeper” in the immersive cirque experience MoonRise - currently playing in Brooklyn. For all of 2019, he appeared Off-Broadway as the villain Joules Volter in the award-winning, immersive family show, Pip’s Island. He’s performed for years in NYC, Hollywood, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and in theater festivals around the world with his critically acclaimed shows Desperately Seeking the Exit, Late with Lance!, Show Up, and Show Up, Kids!
He is the librettist of the West End musical “Desperately Seeking Susan,” based on the film, and featuring the hit songs of Blondie. The show played at London's Novello Theatre in 2007, and was presented by Tokyo's legendary Toho Company at Theatre Creation in 2009.
Pete is the co-writer (along with Sheila Head) of Hollywood Nurses which is scheduled for an Off-Broadway opening in the near future.
Pete created and co-produced SOLOCOM® at The PIT for five years, launching hundreds of original solo comedies. Other festivals he produced include The Unofficial Upper East Side EdFest at Ryan’s Daughter, and TrumpCon at The Kraine. He has also produced UK comedian David Mills at Pangea NYC, LA-based sketch duo Charles at The PIT, and David Carl's Celebrity One-Man Hamlet, and Jason Kravits' Off the Top - both of which played Edinburgh Fringe and have gone on to national and international engagements.
As an actor, he’s appeared in dozens of Off-Broadway, cabaret, festival, and regional productions and workshops. He provided the comic relief for five years in the global smash, STOMP. His voice has been heard on hundreds of voice-overs for very important banks, bands, and beverages.
Pete is one of NYC's most sought-after solo show, comedy, marketing, and development coaches. He’s directed, consulted, and developed dozens of solo shows in NYC and around the country, as well as directing several plays in NYC and regionally. He has been a professor of Sketch Comedy at Pace University and William Paterson University, as well as The PIT, Toronto’s York University, Soulo Theatre, and The Actor's Centre in London.
