Professor ramesh chandra majumdar is a bengali historian. he is commonly called r, c, majumdar. he served as vice chancellor of dhaka university from 1936 to 1942. the famous historian of the indian subcontinent, r.c. majumdar has done a lot of work on the history of ancient india. he also does a lot of work on the history of india's independence.
birth and education
He was born on December 4, 1888 to a noble family in Khandarpara village of Muksudpur upazila in present-day Gopalganj district (then Faridpur district)of Bangladesh. His father's name is Haldhar Majumdar, his mother's name is Bindumukhi. He graduated in history from Presidency College in Kolkata in 1909 and graduated in 1911. He then started researching history under Harprasad Shastri. Premchad Rayachad received a scholarship in 1912 for the blind-kushan kal abhisandarve in 1912. In 1928, British Museum in London, kern Institute of Leiden, studied at Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.
career
His career started in 1916 at Dhaka Teachers Training College. In 1914, he joined calcutta university as a lecturer in the history department. In 1919, the University of Calcutta published a PHD study titled "Corporate life in ancient India". In 1921, he joined the history department of the newly established Dhaka University as a professor. He wrote Early History of Bengal in 1924. In 1927, he wrote a book on Vietnamese history called Champa, and a book on Indian history called Ancient India.
