"Ai No Corrida" was originally a song written and recorded by Chaz Jankel for the soundtrack of an erotic Japanese art film called "Ai No Korida" and was included on his 1980 self titled debut LP. By that time he had changed the title to "Ai No Corrida" to give a Latin influence to it and make it more accessible. Jankel got a #1 disco hit the following year when his synth driven "Glad To Know You" was issued.

Quincy Jones heard the song and decided to record a cover that he included on his second solo LP "The Dude". Since he does not sing, he turned to Charles "Dune" May to provide the vocals with Patti Austin backing him. It was released as a single April 11, 1981, peaking at #28 on the Hot100, #10 R&B and #5 on the Billboard Disco Chart.

It took the 1982 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists.
