Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue, Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy

With over 500 years of history this Domaine is one of the mighty names of Burgundy with a very small portfolio of elite wines from some of the most famous plots of wine in the region.

Based in Chambolle-Musigny, de Vogue is most famous for its Grand Cru Musigny Cuvee Vieilles Vignes, one of the longest lived Pinot Noirs in the world.

Another Grand Cru, Bonnes-Mares, also packs a stunning punch but the most elegant and succulent Pinot is the heavenly Chambolle 1er Cru, Les Amoureuses. Made from a tiny parcel of fruit, this is often my favourite wine in the estate on account of its texture and heady earthiness.

Only the old vines go into the Musigny, so any wines younger than 25 years old in this Grand Cru vineyard are declassified for a Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru - remarkable value in the greater scheme of things.
