HOW TO WRITE CV AND PERSONAL STATEMENT FOR A PHD /POSTGRADUATE APPLICATION | ACADEMIC CV

Preparing a #PhD application requires a lot of work, effort and thorough reflection. During my first year of applying, I was very generic and lazy in terms of highlighting my reasons for choosing to apply for specific doctoral research programmes or projects, which resulted in me obtaining very few PhD interviews. During my second year of applying, I decided to take time to look more deeply in the programmes and evaluate why I wanted to be part of those programmes. I also ensured that I tailored each personal statement to each programme I applied for individually, which worked out so much better and I pretty much received an interview request from every single application I sent through. In this video, I have given an example of my CV and personal statement as a guide on how to structure it. I really hope anyone currently going through this difficult process benefits from this video. Believe in yourself, abilities and your application. If you are in doubt of whether to send an application through JUST DO IT!! as not trying in the first place if you really want to embark on a doctoral degree is worse than rejection itself.
