About the Musical
The Greatest Showman tells the story of a visionary who rose from the bottom to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. The screenplay is written by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon, the songs were written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and the score was composed by John Debney and Joseph Trapanese.

The musical is based on the real-life story and life of Phineas Taylor Barnum who was an American showman and businessman known for promoting celebrated hoaxes. He founded the Barnum & Bailey Circus, billed in 1919 as the greatest show on earth. He kidnapped and displayed aboriginal men, women, and children as ‘Human Oddities’ in his circus and in truth he exploited the western world's curiosity of the colonies.

Despite Barnum's real story, The Greatest Showman musical is about uplifting diversity and humanity. It displays the sense of wonder that is felt when a dream comes to life.
