Let’s Learn About Pongal AND Practice Sight Words!

IS
Pongal IS a harvest festival holiday.

AND
It is celebrated by the Tamil people in South India AND around the world.

IT
IT is usually celebrated on January 14th. It lasts 3 or 4 days.

ON
ON the first day of the festival, people clean. They wear new clothes and throw away their old clothes.

LOOK
LOOK! There is a big bonfire to burn things we don’t need.

THE
On THE second day, people make rice pudding.

IN
IN Tamil, Pongal means to boil over.The sweet rice pudding overflows while we cook it.

SO
The Kolam floor artwork is SO beautiful!

WE
On day 3, WE celebrate cows!

GO
On the fourth day, we GO visit family and friends.
