Long COVID & Post-Viral Syndromes ECHO: Anatomical Neurological Complications

Bateman Horne Center and the University of Utah Health ECHO teams join forces once again to provide a case-based learning series illuminating strategies for assessment and management of Long COVID (PASC), ME/CFS, and related comorbid conditions.

Patient cases are shared in this session for educational purposes. In some cases, the information does not relate to an individual, and instead represents a compilation of disease presentation. In cases involving individual patient information, the patients have authorized the discussion of their case in this setting.

Theresa Dowel, FNP, PT, and Brayden Yellman, MD, address anatomical neurological complications in ME/CFS and long COVID.

Objectives
• Understand how neurological and spinal manifestations present in EDS syndromes, ME/CFS and long COVID.
• Recognize how connective tissue and spinal affectations present in craniocervical instability (CCI), atlantoaxial instability (AAI) and tethered cord syndrome (TC).
• Acknowledge the role mast cells play in these conditions.
• Discuss assessment & management strategies, patient quality of life and level of functional impairment.
• Case presentation

**NOTE: Surgical intervention is only ever considered when all other options have been exhausted, weighing quality of life and functional impairment against surgical risk. NEVER buy over the counter traction products, and only work with proven experts in the field. Permanent, irreversible damage may be occur without proper imaging and expert intervention.

We advise viewers to always speak with their medical care team prior to making any adjustments or changes to their current care regimen.

Bateman Horne Center’s involvement in this program is made possible with the additional support of the Open Medicine Foundation.
