If you are the owner of a highly anxious, nervous, fearful dog, I highly highly recommend that the dog gets crated for a couple hours a day for a good deep sleep without worry. Most of these nervous, fearful dogs wake up nervous in the morning and go to bed nervous in the evening and throughout the entire day, they often pace around, can’t stay still, can’t get any good rest, and worry about every move people make and flinch at every sound made.

As the owner of multiple nervous, fearful dogs that have had very terrible upbringings, the only time my nervous dogs will rest is in the crate. All other times they try to sleep, but they are too worried about what might happen to actually close their eyes for more than 30 seconds. Sometimes their bodies are not in motion but you can tell that their are brains are still in action by watching the constant blinking of the eyes.


This video demonstrates exactly what I’m saying. The crate should be in a separate room than the main living area and have a nice cozy blanket over it or crate cover to shut out all of the noises and worries and let the dog get good worry free rest- a mental vacation from the stress.
Dogs who are often stressed out all day are more likely to be reactive because they are like ticking time bombs.
