Unique (and creepy) soft robots

Описание к видео Unique (and creepy) soft robots

When we think of robots, we might imagine rigid machines capable of many tasks. But there are also plenty of soft robots active in everything from space exploration to biomimicry to mechanics. They sometimes serve as exoskeletons and other times as search and rescue operators. But that’s not all they do.

They can pick up different objects using suction cups, swim among real fish in coral reefs monitoring aquatic life without disturbing the fishes’ natural habitat, walk and change colors to blend in with their surroundings. They can even mimic natural hand movements with a touch that is soft enough to handle fragile objects. And that’s just the beginning.

If these robots have piqued your interest then watch our video to see many more soft robots live and in action. These machines bring together the best of science, technology, and engineering to accomplish tasks that hard and rigid robots could never do. They are thus impressive marvels of engineering with many different and varied applications.
