DMITRY BIVOL (RUSSIA) vs FELIX VALERA (DOMINICAN REP.) FIGHT!

Welcome guys thanks for joining me again in this update. I hope you're all well.

Ok guys, so Dmitry Bivol's fight against Felix Valera took place on May 21, 2016, at the Khodynka Ice Palace in Moscow, Russia. (sports, boxeo, спорт)

This match was an important one in the Light Heavyweight division as Dmitry Bivol, was an emerging talent from Russia.

Felix Valera, a Dominican boxer who held the interim WBA Light Heavyweight position, was undefeated, known for his power and utilised an unorthodox style.

Now Valera was by no means an exceptionally technical boxer, I would even say that he had considerable flaws in that department as his balance was questionable and he would often swing wide when throwing his punches.

However, what he did possess was an awkward and agile enough style to prevent his opponents from landing their punches consistently.

He was also a boxer who reacted quickly with his counterpunching, so it was always a danger to attack him directly. Valera is the type of boxer that can make a good boxer look bad because of his wild and unpredictable nature.

Although this was the problem facing Bivol he approached this systematically and managed to outbox and knock down Valera in the 6th and the 8th. Valera showed heart and was able to finish the fight.

This was the first time Bivol had to rely on the judges to decide the outcome of the fight as he had KO and TKO victories with all of his previous opponents.

Now guys as we approach Bivol's October 12 clash against Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed status at Light Heavyweight we have to ask ourselves whether Bivol will be able to deal with the constant pressure that Beterbiev presents.

Both boxers are products of the Soviet school system but in this fight, we will see their similar techniques utilised in two completely different styles.
