Iranian-born female athletes Saman Soltan, a kayaker, and weightlifter Yekta Jamali Galeh are among the 36 athletes that make up this year’s Olympic refugee team. The refugee team was set up in 2016 and is yet to win a medal but hopes are high this time around. The team includes athletes from Syria, Afghanistan and Sudan and will compete in 12 different sports during the 17 day international multi-sport event.
