GRENADE ATTACK KILLS THREE
Three people, including two policemen, were killed and several others were wounded in a grenade attack targeting policemen during an anti-president protest in the capital of Burundi. The police director stated that two officers were killed and one was wounded, while a local resident said a civilian also lost his life and two others were wounded.


VIOLENT MAY DAY PROTEST
A May Day march in Seattle turned violent when demonstrators threw rocks and wrenches at police, who responded by lobbing flashbangs and shooting pepper balls. Hundreds of demonstrators protested in pro-worker, anti-capitalist, and anti-police-brutality rallies. Three officers were injured at and a total of fifteen people have been arrested across the city.


SEARCH FOR SURVIVORS CONTINUE
Nepal ruled out the possibility of finding more survivors buried in the rubble from the massive earthquake on April 25th, that has so far resulted in the death of more than 6,700 people. Multiple teams of rescuers from more than 20 countries have been using sniffer dogs and heat-seeking equipment to find survivors. No one has been pulled out alive since May 30. Many unclaimed bodies were being quickly cremated because of the need to avert disease and reduce the stench of corpses. The UN children's fund UNICEF warned to avert an outbreak of the monsoon diseases among the 1.7 million youngsters estimated to be living in the worst-hit areas.


FLASH FLOODS KILL FIVE
Flash floods killed five people in south-east Queensland when their cars were swept away following a rain storm on Australia's east coast. Three men, one woman and a eight-year-old boy died, while more than 30 other people were rescued from cars stranded on flooded roads. More than 360 mm of rain fell when the storm hit, most of it falling in a three hour period. The Bureau of Meteorology said that the low pressure system was contracting as it moved south into northern New South Wales.
