Mentawai Islands August 2023

Highlights from our last trip in the Mentawai Islands with Steve Creek and the crew from Albany, Western Australia joining us onboard Pelagic Surf Charters. August has been a good month for swell with back to back low pressure systems lined up in the Indian Ocean. This current charter we seen some strong south winds and a lot of rainfall. Starting the charter in the northern region we traveled south to escape the crowds. Day 2 and 3 we lucked into some fun conditions at Lances Right and Greenbush. The peak of the swell gave the boys some good barrels combined with some better weather and sunshine. While the strong winds persisted through the charter we headed north to thunders to try find some shelter. With 14 boats at thunders we snuck into Roxys for some small fun waves and spent our last day back at Lances Left.
