512 WGW - Working for the dignity of human beings in Sierra Leone

Описание к видео 512 WGW - Working for the dignity of human beings in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone is a small country on the west coast of Africa with a population of over 7 million. The land is rich in diamonds, gold, iron ore … and much more. Sierra Leone emerged from a decade of civil war in 2002 and from an Ebola outbreak in 2014. Several years on, the country still faces the challenge of reconstruction and reconciliation: thousands are still displaced and require financial, social and psychosocial support. The population is very young with about 60% under the age of 25 and one of the greatest challenges facing the government is that Sierra Leone has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in West Africa. Mark Riedemann talks to Fr. Peter Konteh Executive Director of Caritas in Freetown, a Catholic organization committed to enhance the dignity of people in Sierra Leone.
