Jumping the Chasm on "Hop, Skip, and a Jump"!

"Hop, Skip, and a Jump" is a 5.7+ trad climb at the Grotto in the Granite Dells of Prescott, AZ. The crux is just after the second bolt. Clip that bolt and there just seems to be no feet...but the edges are there.

The jump was AMAZING and easy--not technical or requiring any detailed beta. Just make sure to place two pieces after the jump to protect your follower.

It's a gear anchor. Build it when you are comfortable walking off. There is a nice boulder you could sling, but the walk-off would be high-stakes scrambling. I chose to build the anchor back where it truly was a walk-off with two #1's and a #.5 (though there were other options). Leading with a double rack .5 to #2 (with one #3) let me protect the route really well while also having plenty of cam options for an anchor. That said, there are lots of boulders one could build an anchor with.
