The Healthcare Facilities Committee is a BSA Knowledge Community that works to grow and sustain the healthcare design community of Greater Boston with opportunities to share knowledge and expand connections.

Women’s Health encompasses a diverse array of inpatient and outpatient healthcare environments that focus on patients of all ages in different life stages and distinct needs. Using the Special Delivery Unit at Connecticut Children’s Hospital as a case study, we will review some of the challenges faced, innovative solutions implemented, and emerging trends shaping the future of obstetrical care environments. Additionally, we will explore the operational approach and impacts regarding developing, staffing, and implementing a Special Delivery Unit. Lastly, we will discuss critical adjacencies and key planning units necessary to support this unique care delivery model.
