narrative:
Classical music wasn't really my type from the beginning, but I gradually got to know it more through some popular ones, by different chances. I like to spend time trying to understand the music, and why it survives such a long history.

One time, I got a small job that required me to capture a video of a lady playing a cello. It was the first time I hear the sound of a cello by my own ears. The sound was so strong and deep.

It vibrated through my skin, and my head. I think it lies somewhere between the temples and around the top of my head
It sounded both strange and familiar to me and I think that's a good beginning.

A few years later, I finally knew the name of the song. It was the Prelude in a whole complicated and long solo suite for cello, played in G major, composed by the world-famous Bach.

I listened again to the whole másterpiece many times. It has many parts but Im still attracted most by the Prelude. For I could not explained it in a fews words how I felt about it, I decided to express it visually.

With no plan ahead, I decided let the feeling lead the brush stroke. I started with black, because it's neutral and abstract. It did not foretell me which colour would be next to complement itself. The choice of the next colours would be ... Just momentary. I mean 'im-provisa-tional'

After painting awhile I found it either hard to stop or to continue in the same canvas. So I made two more pieces while playing the Prelude, and then 6 more while playing the rest of the suite.

I started to know what to do. I would let different tracks help me express my feeling into different compositions.

I didn't stop to look back on previous pieces, and just went on until I finished the ninth one.

I played the Prelude again while painting the last piece. I want to see if the outcome looks similar to what I did with the first piece.

It s so pleasurable when I look at the whole 9 pieces, lying them out in 3 by 3. I think discover something for myself by seeing the whole thing.

This video that you are watching is a short edition, and the soundtrack is not really the ones that I play when I paint these pieces. There's a longer one that is played at its real speed. You might try playing that video with the right parts of the Cello Solo Suite in G Major.
