Hristo Stoichkov - Bulgarian football player, striker. Winner of the golden ball (1994) and golden boot (1990). Winner of the UEFA Jubilee Award as the most outstanding Bulgarian football player of the 50th anniversary (1954-2003).
Together with Oleh Salenkо, he became the top scorer of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, scoring 6 goals.
Stoichkov first showed himself playing for CSKA Sofia. In one of the Cup Winners' Cup matches against Barcelona, ​​he scored a hat-trick for the match, and Johan Cruyff insisted that Stoichkov move to Barcelona. He moved in 1990 for $4.5 million. In the first three seasons, Hristo scored 60 goals, but there were rumors about his transfer to another team due to disputes with Cruyff. Stoichkov experienced the highest rise of his career in 1994, the Bulgarian national team reached the semi-finals of the World Cup, and he was recognized as the best player of the year in Europe.
